Universal API management refers to an expanded set of capabilities beyond traditional API management. Notably, this requires the ability to handle additional API patterns beyond basic SOAP and REST, to include GraphQL, Events, Service Mesh, gRPC, and Async API to list a few. "We support all API formats. We have OpenAPI specs 3, OpenAPI specs 2 (OAS2)... We support GraphQL, we support Protobuf, we also support ASync APIs, all the new protocols as well," says Arun Dorairajan. "And the big thing here is even if the API doesn't have a format, it's unstructured, you can still bring them in, you know, kind of make it part of an asset. You can even bring in X12 EDI documents if you want to and make it a complete package to present to your consumers."
