Let's look at them by audience. Public APIs are accessible to developers with minimal restrictions. They may require registration, an API key, or OAuth and some are even completely open. Public APIs focus on external users to give them access to data or services. Partner APIs are shared with strategic business partners offering a more controlled access. There's an onboarding process with a specific validation workflow to access partner APIs. Internal APIs are not intended for external use, but exclusively used within the company for improved productivity and reuse of services.
