A brand-new report, where we surveyed 600 IT and business decision-makers, shows some great news: they are truly beginning to grasp the power of APIs to transform their business. To cite just a few numbers: APIs are part of the go-to-market strategy for 99.5% of organizations. 85% have dedicated product managers for their key APIs, and more than half of enterprises are monetizing their APIs. But the report also highlights how, as the number of APIs grows, so too does the challenge of managing and securing these assets. Axway Senior Product and Solutions Marketing Manager Sarah Guivarch joins us now. So, where do today's organizations stand when it comes to governing and securing these APIs, and how can they get a better grasp on all of their APIs? Sarah Guivarch: Okay, sure Lydia, this is a great question. Actually, I have relevant figures to share with you. 98% of the organizations surveyed are expecting an increase in their APIs over the next 12 months. So the proliferation of APIs implies the need to get control of those assets. But today, 78% of enterprise decision-makers don't know how many APIs they have. Maintaining an accurate inventory is one of the biggest challenges for organizations. 74% fully agree that more than 20% of their organization’s APIs are unmanaged. What does that mean? It means security risks, with unknown APIs present in organizations’ ecosystems. It's a breach for cyberattacks. Besides, 87% of those surveyed agree that lost APIs are considerable security threats. So there is a strong recognition of the need for better governance. Implementing this could help organizations gain control, improve security, and maximize the value of their APIs. Actually, 95% of respondents agree that a centralized API catalog would improve governance. So it is clear that the lack of visibility and control over all APIs is a common issue for organizations. And it is linked to security risk exposure. However, there has been a shift in how organizations treat APIs: from technical interfaces to real products with business value and the ability to generate new revenue streams. Actually, as you well said, 99.5% of organizations stated that their APIs are part of their go-to-market strategy. That's why it's essential to leverage centralized governance for existing API programs to achieve success and business growth. Lydia Defranchi: Thanks, Sarah. Some really interesting numbers there.
