By clicking on the red square, one can investigate this situation deeper. Along the right side of the screen is a list of orders held up in a specific processing step as evaluated by comparing average processing time for that step versus time the order has been delayed in that step. The time metrics below the activity icons in the center of the page show the average duration for each process. Using these, managers can gauge operational performance. The order capture duration is considered high in this case and is a prime candidate for further investigation. The remedy may be a matter of adding resource capacity or otherwise optimizing the process. Figure 2.
