4 axway.com What does granular, multi-tier visibility look like? A non-linear, real-time analytics solution for perfect order fulfillment goes something like this: 1. A supplier receives a purchase order from a customer 2. The purchase order is processed at a central office 3. An order management system translates the order into a "pick list" (items to be picked from inventory and packaged for shipment) 4. The pick list goes to one of four regional distribution centers 5. Personnel at the center pick from the list and prepare items for shipment 6. When all items are packaged (including placement on pallets, if necessary) they are ready to ship 7. Shipment is carried out by one or more third-party providers 8. Shipment is received and acknowledged by the customer System overview Figure 2 (next page) is an application screen capture illustrating an end-to- end view of a multi-tier order fulfillment supply chain. The chart on the top left shows actual versus expected item count at 30-minute intervals over the course of several business days. The chart below it shows cumulative item count over the same period, versus expected cumulative item count. The expected item counts show a profile that is automatically calculated in real time by the system based on a configurable statistical evaluation of orders that have arrived over the preceding few business days. This way, deviations from normal behavior are shown in real time and alerts can be sent if necessary.
